Comic Book Summer Event Overload

Hollywood drops huge blockbuster films on the viewing public for summer consumption, its an annual tradition that we all gobble up. Whether you are into Zombies, Pirates, Superheroes, Ogres, or another damn Penguin movie... there is something in the theatres for everyone. The two major comic book publishers DC Comics & Marvel are getting into the habit of producing big, "history-making" summer mini-series that are marketed heavily and seem to impact all the major characters and titles of their respective houses.
Marvel will have multiple events occurring. The one receiving the most advertising hype would have to be World War Hulk, which I'm looking forward to on some level since I'm a die-hard Hulk fan. Seeing the Hulk get his revenge on all the folks responsible for launching his gamma irradiated butt into space should make for some cool stories. Marvel is going to handle World War Hulk the same way it handled the Civil War event last year. There will be the World War Hulk mini series book, that will coincide with a Frontline series that views the event from the point of view of two reporters following the story. There will also be World War Hulk mini series attached to other Hero groups like the X-Men. I'm also sure that every comic in the Marvel Super Hero universe proper will have some World War Hulk action. I can only pray that Marvel better with keeping on track with their scheduling and meet their deadlines so that this event doesn't stretch across an entire year like Civil War did.

I'm heading to San Diego to attend the big International Comic Con with my man Fred, having these series events always adds some extra electricity to the comic publisher panels and makes for some interesting occurrences. Civil War ended with a Spider-Man with a public identity, a dead Captain America, and government control over all super powered citizens of the USA. I'm not a fan of any of these changes, so I'm hoping to get some satisfaction in the form of one of my favorite Marvel characters kicking people around and possibly bring back the old status quo in the Marvel Universe.
